President Brian Feuling called the meeting to order at 7:02PM.

Secretary Report

The minutes from the June 4, 2007 meeting were presented for approval.  Laura Mickelson motioned to approve the minutes.   Hillary Hoffman seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report

Jane Boots, Treasurer, submitted her report via e-mail.  The clubs assets stand at $66,115.75.  Total expenses to date are $53,417.39 with income for the year at $55,723.19.  The Board discussed the current investment strategy and determined we should maintain this strategy.  Laura Mickelson made a motion to approve the Treasurers report.  Kerry Murray seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

Website and Express

Roberta Lembke, Secretary, reported that the MAHA Express was published in the first week of August.  A total of 274 e-mail messages were sent.  21 e-mail messages bounced.  46 members do not have e-mail.  The individual’s who had invalid e-mail addresses and members without e-mail addresses will get a paper copy of the MAHA Express.

Insurance

Laura Mickelson reported that she has submitted the insurance application and payment for the Fall Classic show.

Spring Show 2008

Teresa LeFever submitted her report to Brian Feuling via e-mail.   The 2008 show is set for March 28 – 30th.  This date does not interfere with Easter or the judge’s seminar.  Laura Mickelson is working on hiring a judge for the Sport Horse classes for 2008.  Teresa is working with the Minnesota Equestrian Center on a multi-year contract.  The tentative show dates for 2009 are either 3/13/-3/15 or 3/27 – 3/31.  The tentative 2010 show dates are March16-21 or 26-29. 

WSCA

Laura Mickelson reported that our ad was not printed in the recent WSCA Spotlight.  Laura was assured that our ad would be in the next edition that will be distributed before the September show.

Arabian Open Shows Championship

Laura Mickelson reported that the show is September 9th at the Washington County Fairground.  Laura reported that Avalon Photography is going to be at the show.  The show needs volunteers to help at the show.  Laura also reported that they need additional sponsorships for the championships and the classes. 

WSCA Delegate Report

MAHA Youth

Fall Show

The Fall Classic needs additional volunteers for all types of jobs.  Shirley Theede and her husband Mike volunteered to staff the gate.  Brian Feuling volunteered to serve as the ringmaster.  Jill Frieders and Laura Mickelson also volunteered.  Jill Frieders offered to pick up the judge.  Teresa LeFever is working on securing the Patron and corporate sponsors.

Shirley Theede reported that MAHA has 270 adult members, 7 life members, and 78 youth members.

Annual Banquet

Hillary Hoffman reported that she reserved the large conference room at Dave and Busters for the Annual Banquet and Meeting on November 10th.  The cost of the room is $250 including the sound system, projector, table furnishings, etc.   Hillary can get a ½ size room that fits 80 people if needed.  The estimated cost is $20.00.  Hillary requested that everyone send her photos for the slide show.  To keep the costs low, all Board members are asked to contribute a gift for a door prize. 

Region 10 Delegate Report

Laura Mickelson reported that the early bird registration for the annual AHA Convention is $100 less than the regular price.  Laura Mickelson, Toni Marie O’Daniel, Jill Frieders, Ann Benson, Anita Grant, and Lori Conway are the 2007 delegates.  Resolutions are due this week.  Region 10 is moving forward a resolution that would move away from the MOS scoring system to a pure points system.  The Board hotly debated this resolution. 

The board discussed MAHA’s contribution to the MAHA Delegates to defray convention costs.  Region 10 will give each delegate $200 for their attendance.  Tom Fisher brought forward a motion that MAHA give each delegate $750 to cover part of the costs of convention.  Shirley Theede seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

MAHA Board Members and Officer Elections

Tom Fisher has resigned from the Board due to personal obligations.  Per the club Bylaws, the Board can appoint someone to fill the remainder of Tom’s position.  President Brian Feuling will contact the individuals who were on the ballot last year but were not elected.

At present, all the club officers and board members will run for re-election.  The Board agreed that we would like at least 6 names on the ballot for the Board member positions.  The ballot and the Annual Banquet and Meeting invitation must be mail no later than the end of September.

2008 Spring Meeting

The Board discussed the 2008 spring meeting.  The Board agreed that we would like to hold the meeting at the new University of Minnesota Equine Center.  The board set a tentative meeting date of March 8th. 

Laura Mickelson motioned for adjournment.  Tom Fisher seconded the motion.  Meeting adjourned at 8:50.
