Presidential Report

President Brian Feuling welcomed everyone to the 2008 MAHA Annual Banquet and Awards Dinner.  Brian extended a hearty thanks to Hillary Hoffman and Shirley Theede for all their work to make the banquet a great success.

Secretary Report

Roberta Lembke, Secretary reported that the MAHA Express was well received by the membership and would continue through the next year.  Roberta also reminded everyone to bookmark the MAHA website (www.mnarabhorse.com).

Treasurer Report

Brian Feuling reported on behalf of Jane Boots, Treasurer.  All three MAHA shows were profitable this year.  The Spring Fling generated $5368.73, the AOSC Show $576.40, while the Fall Classic made $9,494.28.

The net income for the club to-date was $16,435.86, while the balance sheet reported the club equity at $77,591.03

MAHA Spring Fling and Fall Classic Shows

Ann Benson, co-chair of the Spring Fling announced that the Spring Fling 2008 dates are March 28-30.  The show will have the same sport horse classes as 2007 but they will be spread out throughout Friday rather than all together.  The judge has not been hired yet.
 
The 2007 show was profitable, with net revenue of $5368.73.  Ann also announced that the 2007 show was honored by the Tri State Horsemen's Association. as the Arabian Show of 2007 and received a banner to honor the show.  Shirley and Mike Theede were thanked for making the exhibiter experience so pleasant and welcoming.  Ann also thanked all the Spring Fling volunteers and put out a call for 2008 volunteers.

The Fall Classic 2008 is scheduled for September 13-14, 2008.

WSCA and Open Show Championships

Laura Mickelson reported that the second Arabian Open Show Championships was held as part of a WSCA open show at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo on September 9, 2007.  The show drew 32 horses and 171 entries.  Due to the generosity of sponsors and patrons, without whom this show would simply not be possible, the show had a profit of $550.

David Boggs judged the AOSC classes and Linda Hagan Kvanbeck judged the WSCA and the other Arabian classes.  MAHA extended a special thanks to David for donating his time, being a double patron, and for getting an additional patron plus 6 class sponsorships in between judging classes!  Rose garlands for the AOSC champion and reserves were designed by Anita Grant and Natalie Anderson and made by Anita!

Laura thanked other AOSC Committee members, Natalie Anderson, Jane Boots, Anita Grant, Pat Forehand, and Kathy Zalusky and the show volunteers:  Shirley and Mike Theede, Lisa Lewis, Toni Marie O’Daniel, Brian Feuling, Elaine Yungerberg. Ellen Larson, Maria Costa, and Christina Mattson.  Laura also thanked MAHA’s president, Brian Feuling, for his support for the program in general and for his efforts with the promotional materials.

The 2008 show has been scheduled for September 7, 2008 at the Washington County Fairgrounds.  Laura encouraged everyone to consider volunteering.

Laura also extended congratulations from MAHA to the people who showed at the WSCA championship show.

Delegates and Region 10

The MAHA delegates were introduced:  Laura Mickelson, Toni Marie O’Daniel, Jill Frieders, Ann Benson, Anita Grant, and Lori Conway

Laura Mickelson reported that the Regional Show in St Paul drew 466 horses (19 more than 2206), and had 1020 additional class entries resulting in a profit over $40,000.  The Regional Sport Horse classes drew 33 horses (down 53 from 2006) 83 rides, with a loss of around $3,000.  Overall this amounted to 499 horses (equal to 2006), 1108 rides, 7.45 horses per class resulting in a profit of around $37,000.  The Region 10 Youth show was down 19 horses, resulting in a loss of $400.

Region 10 Youth Round Up is scheduled for May 10-11, 2008 in Winona.  The Region 10 Sport Horse show will be June 28-29, 2008.
