President Brian Feuling welcomed everyone to the 2008 MAHA Spring Annual Membership Meeting.
Treasurer’s Report:
The MAHA Treasury has a positive balance of $74,812.38. Details regarding the profit/loss of the Spring Fling have not yet been calculated.
Secretary Report
The members and guests were encouraged to check out the MAHA website at www.mnarabhorse.com. The membership provided some general feedback regarding the website.
MN Horse Council
Brian Feuling educated the audience on the purpose of the MN Horse Council and requested that everyone consider serving as the MAHA liaison to the council.
Spring Fling and Fall Classic
The Spring Fling was held on March 28-30 at the Minnesota Equestrian Center in Winona. The show was judged by Jody LaSalle, with the sport horse classes judged by Nancy Porter. Judge LaSalle reported to Brian Feuling that she very much liked the schedule, the facility, and how it was managed. She called the show “wicked awesome.” President Feuling thanked Ann Benson and Teresa LeFever for their hard work and thanked Jane Boots in advance for the work she will be doing for the Fall Classic Horse Show. The Fall Classic will be held on September 6 and 7th at the Minnesota Equestrian Center and will be judged by Pam Zimmerman.
Arabian Open Shows Championship
The Arabian Open Shows Championship and WSCA Open show is scheduled for August 31st at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The show will be advertised on the cover of the WSCA Spotlight magazine in August. Laura Mickelson requested that members consider volunteering to work at the show.
MAHA Youth
Teresa LeFever has volunteered to host a youth clinic at her farm. Teresa will contact the youth with details later in the spring. The Silent Auction at the Spring Fling raised $1600 for the youth program. Irene Simonson, Youth High Point Program chair, announced that all youth are encouraged to sign up for the High Point program. All youth will get an e-mail message announcing the program. All the necessary forms will be included with the message. The youth must sign up by June 1st.
MN Horse Council
Brian put out a call to the membership to consider serving as the MAHA liaison to the MN Horse Council.
Banquet
Hillary Hoffman reported that the Annual Fall Meeting and Banquet is scheduled for November 8th. No details are known at this point.
Black Stallion Literacy Program
Hillary Hoffman reported that work continues on the Black Stallion Literacy program. Kaara LaVenture has a number of schools lined up to participate but at this point has been unable to make any arrangements with the program headquarters..
Region 10 Show
The Region 10 Show will be held in St. Paul on June 11-15th. Ann Benson made a call for volunteers to work the gate, barn, ribbons, and pictures. One volunteer per day will be entered in a drawing for $100.

Laura Mickelson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Ann Benson seconded the motion. Motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 2:15PM. The attendees then split into two groups to tour the new Leatherdale Equine Facilities.
