President Lori Conway called the meeting to order at 9:30.
President’s Report
No Report
Minutes
Lori Conway motioned to approve the February 4, 2009 minutes. Toni Mari O’Daniel seconded the motion. Motion approved.
Treasurer’s Report
No report.
Spring Show
Teresa LeFever reported that the show was a success. 147 horses attended the show; down only one horse from last year. The number of tack stalls was down from last year, resulting in only 225 stalls sold. Teresa reported that she received a number of positive comments that we didn’t offer championship classes.
Lori Conway reported that the show hotel mixed up the billing and that Conway Arabians received the discounted price. Conway Arabians owes MAHA the difference between the standard rate and the discounted rate.

Roberta Lembke reported on the problems reported with individuals not receiving their e-newsletter and one individual who did not get their paper copy. Roberta informed the Board on the process she uses to do the e-mailings and the fact that individual ISP’s determine what they feel is spam and what is not. There is no way to know why individuals do or don’t get their mailings.
MN Horse Expo
Anita Grant reported that the Expo team (Anita, Penny Gute, John Diedrich) still need volunteers for the Horse Expo scheduled for April 24-26 at the MN State Fairgrounds. Anita will send all Board members the volunteer schedule. Three MAHA members have agreed to bring and show horses at the Expo:
Conway Arabians: 2 English/Costume Horses
Katie O’Shea: 2 Horses, type unknown
Penny Gute: 2 Western Horses
Anita reported that Glen Eaton had questions about the write up for the Parade of Breeds. Lori Conway agreed to contact Glen about this issue.
Trail Ride
Pat Swenson provided the Board with information about the upcoming trail ride. Pat also brought copies of the trail riding survey that she will distribute to the members at the general membership meeting. The trail ride is limited to MAHA members and their guests. Horses should have a negative coggins test.
Fall Classic Show
The Board discussed possible judges for the Fall Classic. The Board confirmed that we will hire a “small r” judge. Application for Tri State status has been submitted but the Board agreed that we need to evaluate this in the future.
Region X Dollars
MAHA is going to receive $2500 as part of our share of the dividend program. Region X has determined that all funds over $100,000 would be divided up among the member clubs for promotional activities. The Board discussed possible options including:
Arabian Horse Galleries $500 (done)
MN Equestrian Association $250 to $499
Scholarship Foundation
State 4H Program
WSCA Championship Show
The Board agreed that we would vote on these options and the dollar amount via e-mail.

John Diedrich motioned to adjourn the meeting. Laura Mickelson seconded the motion. Motion passed and the meeting adjourned.
