Emily Simonson
MAHA Youth Board of Directors

Emily SimonsonAge: Fourteen

What grade are you in: Freshmen

How long have you been involved with horses: I was riding horses before I could even walk! When I was five years old we moved to our current property in Owatonna and my parents bought a Pony of America that went by the name of Snowball.  I first started showing when I was about nine years old with my first Half-Arabian, Baby.  A little less than two years ago we purchased my Western Pleasure mare, Lucy.  Over the years I have gained so much knowledge.  I started at the 4-H and Open Show level, and I am so grateful that I am privileged enough to be able to now show at a Class A level.

How you can help contribute to MAHA Youth: I want to encourage more youth to not be so shy to help out!  For the Youth club to continue to be a success and grow, we need all the volunteers we can get.  So if anyone would be interested with helping out, all the officers are nice and we would be happy to answer any questions and help you out!

Goals you hope to achieve in 2007: There are a lot of things I would like to achieve this year.  Too many to even list!  I want to have a nice, successful show year!

What division will you be showing in this year, if you show:  Western Pleasure and Horsemanship 14-17.

How would you like to be involved in the horse industry ten years from now: Competing in Western Pleasure!  Hopefully I will have my own barn and still be very active in the club.

What other hobbies do you have: I am a Varsity Cheerleader for Hockey and Football at Owatonna High School. I also played Volleyball for eight years.  However, I took this year off, but I am looking in to starting to play for my school again this fall.  I also really enjoy drawing wild life and most of all, horses.

Something interesting about you others may not know: Even though I am sort of a girly girl, I LOVE snow mobiling and four-wheeling!!  When I was six years old, I broke my elbow because I fell off the monkey bars…
