MAHA welcomes new board members

The Minnesota Arabian Horse Association is pleased to welcome three new members to its Board of Directors: Laura Mickelson, Tammi Hiniker (Stoffel) and Kristin Glaze.

Laura Mickelson has served MAHA in a variety of roles for at least 50 years, including as President, delegate at AHA Convention for 39 years and provides assistance with the MAHA Spring Fling and Fall Classic show schedules, among other roles. She has extensive experience at the national levels of both AHA and USEF and has served on several committees, including Chair of USEF Rules Committee. Additionally, Laura has served as Region 10 Director (2011-2014), is an Agenda and Resolutions Committee member, has authored many resolutions and was instrumental in the development of the hunter, country pleasure and sport horse divisions. Laura is also an Arabian horse owner and breeder, is a founding member of the Arabian Unplugged program steadfastly maintains the Open Shows calendar. She has twice received AHA’s National Volunteer Award and multiple AHA Regional Awards, among others.

Tammi Hiniker (Stoffel) was born into Arabian horses as the daughter of trainer. She started showing at age 14 and has many regional and national titles. She also trained horses briefly during college before she graduated with a degree in Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Tammi has worked as a designer at the Arabian Horse Times, co-owns The Design Rubic, Inc. since 2008 and wears many hats at an electrical and security company. She is married with a step-son and has volunteered with MAHA and Region 10 for many years managing websites and assisting with social media and other communications needs. Tammi is an avid sports fan and plays women’s and co-ed volleyball and recently go into photography.

Kristin Glaze owns two Arabians and one Half-Arabian, shows two of them in ranch classes and plans to go to U.S. Nationals this year. Additionally she raises registered Angus on a small ranch in North Central Wisconsin, is the sole owner of an insurance agency since her husband passed away Dec. 31, 2023 in a UTV accident, and she and her son own and operate a small feed store that opened in fall 2024. Kristin’s daughter rodeos for the University of Wisconsin River Falls team in barrels and breakaway and her son rides for pleasure and helps around the farm. Since she was 18 years old, she has competed with Arabians in western pleasure, racing and endurance.

They each will serve two-year terms and help MAHA celebrate its 70th anniversary, grow its membership and expand its programming across the horse community in Minnesota and beyond.
